ACTION C. 4: ENCLOSURE NEARBY THE NESTING AREA

L’aThis action is addressed to those species that will nest in the area. This action will have a direct effect on the species but not a direct one on habitat. The decreasing presence of tourist and curious people on the area will protect the habitat 1510* Mediterranean salt steppes in an indirect way.
The benefit for the entire lagoon is guaranteed by the increasing in biodiversity with increasing nesting species.

ACTION C.5 CONTROL OF THE TERRITORY, MONITORING AND ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION

Construction of a structure as for a visit centre specialized in dissemination and environmental education on habitats and species insisting on the SIC; – installation of wireless web-cam for visualizing habitats and species: reduce trophic presence, check of the attended results, communication activities and environmental education (local and non local visitors, population awareness on environmental conservation and area valorisation).
Action C 5 will produce indirect effects that could be quantified in mid and long term. These effects will be guaranteed when conservation and use of the area project action’s will continue, increasing the level of environmental conscientiousness, the real target of environmental education and naturalistic dissemination. ACTION A2 EX ANTE MONITORING

Ex ante monitoring of the area concerned has a crucial importance to evaluate projects’ achievements. As a matter of fact, to evaluate the status of species and habitat a set of data is needed; this monitoring give a precise state of the art and represents the basic information which will be used to compare, evaluate and quantify the project attended results.
Data and information collected within this report represent the knowledge basis about the project area and the entire SIC necessary to evaluate the consistency and the habitat of the area.

ACTIONS C AT THE START

The beginning of the realization of Conservation Actions of the project took part in between October and December 2015. More detailed, the environmental education center, the enclosure of the nesting area,  the construction of footbridge and and shielding, the accessible ecological network (Actions C2 – C6). Soon all the realization will be accessible to citizen and all interested stakeholder

ST.eR.N.A. has been selected by Environment Ministry (Ministero dell’Ambiente del Territorio e della Tutela del Mare) as month’s project.

FIRST PROJECT RESULTS

By the end of April, thanks to the implementation of conservation actions, the project counts with 40 nesting couples of Sterna Comune (Sterna hirundo), 30 couples of Fraticello (Sternula albifrons), 9 couples of Fratino (Charadrius alexandrinus) and 6 couples of Cavaliere d’Italia (Himantopus himantopus).

ACTION D4.1 COMMUNICATION PLAN

The Communication Plan defines the project images, beneficiaries and key messages. Moreover it helps in defining communication target with reference to different kinds of actors/beneficiaries and to key messages contents; outlines the proper media to be utilise in order to better vehicle messages and stakeholders to get involved in project actions.

ACTION A1 GAP GENERAL ACTION PLAN

GAP document – General Action Plan – has as objective the outline of strategies, common objectives to better preserve habitat and species to allow a better use compatible to achieve a sustainable development.
GAP defines a strategical planning for each project action starting from their technical preparation to specific realization starting from those actions directly oriented to increase biodiversity in the area concerned (Actions C)
